The TRACHTENBURG FAMILY SLIDESHOW
PLAYERS formed as the result of a complex series
of coincidences and understatements with the sole
purpose of raising the absolute common denominator
of entertainment value.
The TRACHTENBURG FAMILY SLIDESHOW
PLAYERS are a real family indie-rock conceptual
art and music phenomenon, led by Jason Trachtenburg,
on piano and guitar. Trachtenburg's daughter, Rachel
Trachtenburg (age 9), plays the drums and Rachel's
mom, Tina Piña Trachtenburg, controls the
slide projector.
The TRACHTENBURG FAMILY SLIDESHOW
PLAYERS turn old, discarded slide collections
into pop-rock music exposés based on the
contents of each collection.
Formed in Seattle in the spring
of 2000, the Slideshow Players quickly became the
hottest ticket in town. A move to New York City
in July 2002 was necessitated by the need to change
the history of entertainment as we know it.
Within weeks, the TRACHTENBURG
FAMILY SLIDESHOW PLAYERS were the most talked
about band in the Big Apple. An October 2002 tour
with They Might Be Giants was followed by a January
2003 appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
Their first national headlining tours ensued in
the spring and summer. A documentary on the band,
produced and directed by Gillian Grisman (Grateful
Dawg)will premiere on the Sundance Channel this
summer. Fall 2003 releases are planned on Bar None
Records and Cass Records.
Jason Trachtenburg has been a topical
songwriter since 1984. Tina Piña Trachtenburg
has been a conceptual, fashion and artistic creator
since the late '70s. Rachel Trachtenburg, the golden
child of rock 'n' roll, was born as a result of
immaculate conception and has played the drums since
the year 2000 A.D.
