On their first new album in 5 years, Tiny Lights fuse
ethereal psychedelic ponderings with folk and '70's R&B
sensibilities. The group took inspiration from Dusty Springfield's
Dusty In Memphis and Elvis Presley's Elvis In Memphis,
two great soulful albums. The Smaller the Grape the Sweeter the
Wine mirrors the stellar grooves and great musicianship of those
recordings. John Hamilton shows new range in his guitar playing and
singer Donna Croughn has never sounded better. Add the in-the-pocket drumming of Ron Howden (from the
prog-rock supergroup Nektar!) plus
the warm bass of Dave Dreiwitz (Joan Osborne, Chris Hartford), with
piano and mellotron by Andy Burton and you have a group operating at the
very top of their game.
Produced by James Mastro of the Health &
Happiness Show.
